Our academic and professional partners are part and parcel of the Alta approach to creating more livable communities. With them, we:

• Research techniques and programs to help enhance community bicycle and pedestrian safety and usage. Click here for examples of recent studies.
• Teach: Our three professors – Mia Birk, Jeff Olson, and Sherry Ryan – teach popular, groundbreaking courses in bicycle and pedestrian issues, planning, design, and implementation.
• Develop and lead continuing education courses, via our work with the Initiative for Bicycle and Pedestrian Innovation (IBPI/PSU). IBPI focuses on promoting bicycling and walking as integral elements of the transportation system in Oregon’s communities.
