Scott Mizée, LEED-AP, Senior Designer

Scott Mizee

I love people. I love design. I love biking. I love water skiing.  I love working at Alta and having the opportunity to combine all of these.  OK, so I haven't figured out how to integrate water skiing into my work at Alta, but surely an idea will come to me some day!  Right now I am loving being able to build on my experience in co-founding npGREENWAY and working in architecture for the past 11 years.  I love being able to create places that my kids and other families will be able to live, work and play in for years to come.

Mr. Mizée is a LEED accredited professional with over 10 years of design and project management experience. Mr. Mizée has strong experience in architecture, planning, design, and trail planning and  advocacy, and has a strong background in leading and managing projects throughout the entire project life cycle. Mr. Mizée is an enthusiastic, energetic leader who is not afraid to step up and embrace change. He has been recognized by clients as one who places deep value in creating lasting and meaningful relationships between projects and surrounding communities, as well as being an effective team leader and team member with excellent organizational and communication skills.  Mr. Mizée is currently sitting for the Architectural Registration Exam.

Additionally, Mr. Mizée co-founded npGREENWAY, a Portland-based non-profit trail planning and advocacy group.  As part of the founding of the organization, Mr. Mizée designed public outreach media to communicate the npGREENWAY vision to members and the general public through website design and electronic newsletters and convened meetings with elected officials and planning staff members to advance the cause of the North Willamette Greenway, as well as assisting in writing grants for the funding of trail advocacy initiatives and activities.

Recent Projects

  • Bike SPA
Led the Alta Planning + Design project team as the primary client and consultant contact for two Bike SPA projects.  The Bike SPAs are a new concept for TriMet and provide key-card accessed Secure Parking Areas for 80-100 bicycles at light rail/bus transit centers.  This was an American Reinvestment and Recovery Act funded project under tight budget and time constraints. The project included the design of a freestanding Bike SPA building at an existing multi-modal transit center as well as a Bike SPA integrated into an existing automobile parking structure.  Mr. Mizée coordinated with client and civil, landscape, and structural consultants to create drawings and written program requirements for the design/build RFP and represented and assisted the client with jurisdictional meetings and requirements of design review submittal in preparation for building permit.  Mr. Mizée was able to successfully deliver 60% level drawings and program requirements for the design/build RFP in less than four weeks.
