Santa Barbara (CA) Pedestrian Master Plan
Downtown Santa Barbara is widely recognized as a pedestrian-friendly place, with wide sidewalks, beautiful street furniture, public art and a world-class beachfront promenade. The Pedestrian Master Plan seeks to bring the rest of the city up to the standards set in downtown, via intersection improvements, sidewalk completion, ADA compliance, landscaping and connectivity.
Alta is leading a team that is developing pedestrian design guidelines, a safe routes to school action plan and a prioritized list of projects. The Alta team is pulling together a plan for the system of "Paseos" (alleyways) that includes system expansion as well as guidelines for new development, maintenance and management.
