Alta is guided by the principle that the active use and conservation of open spaces promotes the environmental, social and economic vitality of communities. We see parks and recreation as an essential and core building block to community livability and as a means to promote healthy lifestyles and personal fitness.

Alta has extensive experience in developing comprehensive park master plans that address park and recreation facilities, open space and trails, programs and services, maintenance, and staffing and funding strategies. Through significant and relevant experience in public administration and management, Alta's staff have "on the ground" knowledge of plan implementation, marketing and finance strategy development, along with a keen understanding of the requisite integration of capital facility planning, budgeting and operations.

Alta's approach to open space planning enables substantial public involvement and engenders guidance from policymakers to develop implementable plans adapted to specific community goals. We are committed to a lively and rich community-based planning process that encourages broad resident and stakeholder input. Additionally, Alta provides a flexible approach to public involvement and recognizes the importance of good strategy to limit delays to critical project timelines and to position projects for smooth public review and adoption.

Having developed numerous parks and recreation plans, we recognize the unique needs and constraints regarding municipal services and offer an owner-side perspective on issues of longterm and stable funding, as well as maintenance and operational demands. We provide a creative, solutions-oriented approach to projects and excel at integrating long-range planning, strategy and policy development and fiscal analysis into our work.

Selected Projects Include:

Fife (WA) Parks, Recreation & Open Space Plan

Cornelius (OR) Parks Master Plan, SDC Study & ADA Transition Plan

Lake Forest Park (WA) 100-Year Park Legacy Project

Centralia (WA) Parks Master Plan

Maple Valley (WA) Comprehensive Plan Parks Element & Park Impact Fee Study

Lafayette (CA) Parks Master Plan

Bremerton (WA) Parks, Recreation & Open Space Plan

Walnut Creek (CA) Open Space Vision Plan

Clark County (WA) Greater Clark Park District Study*

Vancouver (WA) Parks, Recreation & Open Space Plan*

Corvallis (OR) Urban Forestry Management Plan

Vancouver (WA) Urban Forestry Management Plan

*Denotes projects completed by staff prior to joining Alta.
