Recent Projects

  • Napa Valley Greenway Project Feasibility Study
Alta led a team which prepared a feasibility analysis of the Napa Valley Greenway, which would extend from Calistoga to Vallejo in Solano County. Three alternative alignments were evaluated, one of these evaluated a rail with trail option between St. Helena and Napa. The project corridor is almost 50 miles long, broken into ten segments, each with its own unique sit of opportunities and constraints. The feasibility study includes recommendations for signage and funding.
  • Pacific Crest Trail Land Protection Inventory
The objective of this project is to provide an inventory and overview of the parcels that need acquisition in fee or of an easement in order to establish the trail and/or protect the experience of trail users, along with an estimate of the acquisition cost/value. Data will be created, organized, and maintained in an ArcGIS database, adding to the (GIS) maintained for the (PCT) by the U.S. Forest Service.
  • Mill Valley to Corte Madera Bike and Pedestrian Corridor Study
The main goal of the study is to evaluate and compare three alternative bicycle and pedestrian routes between Corte Madera and Mill Valley and select a preferred alternative. The study objectives included an inclusive public and stakeholder agency involvement program; a thorough technical analysis; a preferred alternative that responds to the first 2 objectives, and; a study product that supports proceeding to the next stages of implementation.
  • Dubai Pedestrian Safety and Mobility Action Plan
Alta is working with the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) to develop a Pedestrian Safety and Mobility Action Plan. As part of the project’s first phase outreach, Alta led a series of multi-lingual pedestrian intercept surveys at 25 sites across Dubai.  Using information gathered from the outreach efforts, along with pedestrian collision and land use data, Alta developed a GIS-based pedestrian demand model to assist the team in identifying priorities for infrastructure improvements.
