I bike for my health.
I bike for my happiness.
I bike for my footprint.
I bike for my wallet.
I bike for my daughters.
I bike for our future.
I bike for me.
And working towards improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians? I'll definitely bike for that.

Recent Projects
- Seaside Transportation System Plan, OR
The goal of the Seaside Transportation System Plan (TSP) is to establish a system of transportation facilities, services, and policies to meet long-range local transportation needs. The TSP is being developed consistent with the State of Oregon TSP, and in association with the Oregon Department of Transportation TSP Guidelines. Alta provided technical expertise for the bicycle and pedestrian facilities, developed design alternatives, and contributed to the bike/pedestrian elements of draft memos. - Tacoma Mobility Master Plan, WA
Mike led the Alta team's successful efforts in developing a comprehensive Mobility Master Plan for the City of Tacoma. The plan included a comprehensive, city-wide network of bikeways and pedestrian walkways, as well as a full set of supporting goals and policies, design guidelines, and recommended education and outreach strategies. The final document was the result of an intensive public outreach effort for the project, including meetings in several locations throughout Tacoma at key points in the development of the plan. Primary goals of the network design were to enhance the comfort and safety of all users and to increase the non-motorized mode split. - Ada County Highway District Roadways to Bikeways Bicycle Master Plan, ID
Ada County is the fastest growing county in Idaho, and contains the two fastest growing cities (Eagle and Boise) and the largest city (Boise) in the state, where the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is responsible for construction and maintenance of all roads in the Highway District. Mike led the Alta-team effort in providing an overview of existing conditions, a user needs assessment (including bicycle counts and surveys), the identification of a recommended bikeway system, the creation of comprehensive design guidelines, and education and outreach strategies. In addition, the final plan identified priority projects and likely funding sources for those projects. - Newport Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Update, OR
Newport is a vibrant, growing coastal community with a highway as the main north-south arterial. Mike co-managed the update to the bicycle and pedestrian portion of the existing Transportation System Plan (TSP) for Alta, while working with the primary consultants. Alta provided a field inventory of existing conditions, led community meetings, conducted stakeholder interviews, and provided a final master plan document with priority projects identified to be included in the city TSP.
