Menlo Park Bicycle Development Plan and Negative Declaration
Alta recently completed a Bicycle Transportation Plan for the City of Menlo Park. The plan was completed within a tight schedule (seven months) in order to meet required funding deadlines. The plan involved extensive coordination with a technical advisory committee, three citywide public meetings, and preparation of a bicyclist survey that was handed out during Bike to Work day and available online. Plan recommendations include new Class II bike lanes to complete gaps in the network of major streets, as well as a network of new neighborhood Class III routes on low-traffic residential streets connecting schools, parks, downtown, and major recreational areas such as the Bay Trail. A new citywide directional signage program was also recommended to emphasize key destinations along the network and increase awareness by motorists. As part of the Bike Plan project, Alta prepared a Mitigated Negative Declaration to meet CEQA requirements.
