The Friends of the Katy Trail contracted Alta Planning + Design to recommend a preferred pedestrian and bicycle trail loop to link the existing Katy Trail to the future Woodall Rodgers Park, the Arts District, and the Harwood redevelopment district. The Katy Trail is located in Dallas, Texas, and the connection will improve the bicycle and pedestrian facilities between Katy Trail and downtown by providing complete streets that accommodate bicycles, pedestrians, mass transit, and vehicles. The study included site reconnaissance, development and evaluation of alignments, development of conceptual plan drawings of the preferred alignment sufficient for cost estimating, and numerous public presentations and stakeholder meetings.
