Downtown Plan for Imbler, Oregon

Imbler, Oregon
The quaint town of Imbler has grown around Highway 82 in Eastern Oregon.  In 2007, with the assistance of ODOT, the town began to seek economic expansion through an aesthetically enhanced downtown and pedestrian friendly design. Alta collaborated with CH2M Hill, Angelo Planning, and members of the community to develop a vision and alternative options for Imbler’s future. Recommendations included the completion of the town’s sidewalk system, the addition of bike lanes though downtown, crosswalk improvements, driveway closures, street furnishings, and plantings that reflect the town’s rural agricultural identity. The design process included a walking tour and meetings with community members. Local visions for the town were discussed as well as options for walking and cycling enhancements.  The creation of the downtown plan document is an essential step towards establishing Special Transportation Area (STA) designation for Imbler's main street.
