Florence (OR) U.S. 101 Pedestrian Safety Study
Alta, working with CH2M Hill, ODOT and the City of Florence, completed a pedestrian safety analysis of U.S. 101 in Florence, OR and prepared a study that examined specific areas for safety improvements. The analysis occurred in three stages: Level I, Level II and Level III. Level I analysis included analyzing traffic volumes and speeds, pedestrian travel patterns and behaviors, crash data, existing pedestrian facilities and adjacent land uses. Alta synthesized the results in a Technical Memo summarizing the existing conditions and opportunities. Level II analysis focused on four potential crossing locations and the creation of up to three conceptual design solutions for each location. Level III analysis resulted in the development of 5% designs and cost estimates for one concept (preferred) at each of the identified crossing locations.
