Alta Planning + Design led the trail planning and design effort for the Fernandez Ranch project, a 600-acre parcel owned by the Muir Heritage Land Trust. The Fernandez Ranch is located in Martinez, CA - one of only two places where the Bay Aread Ridge Trail and the San Francisco Bay Trail converge. The trail system will be part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail, and includes an ADA-accessible trail loop, trailhead parking, bridges, and other features. Trail design included analysis of soils conditions, environmental constraints, slope, views, gradients, and maintenance issues. The Trail will also close a critical gap in the Carquinez Strait Scenic Loop Trail.
