Alta, assisted by CH2M Hill and Angelo Planning Group, is completing the first stand-alone Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan for Eugene, Oregon’s second-largest city. The project will result in a robust set of bicycle and pedestrian design guidelines, a proposed bicycle and pedestrian facility network designed to attract a greatly expanded user base, and meaningful public involvement that considered years of input collected by the city while also engaging current residents. Unique project elements included a Cycle Zone Analysis that highlighted potential for cycling throughout the city, a hands-on Engineering Workshop that brought together planners and engineers from the City, ODOT, and other public agencies to discuss the potential for using innovative facility types, and an interactive online map that attracted 600 comments from the public.
