Elliot Scott, Assistant Planner

Growing up in Portland, bicycling was always a part of my family's transportation regimen. My brothers and I knew to run to the porch at the sound of my dad's bike bell to see him walking up the front steps getting home from work. It wasn't until my teens when I traveled to other cities in the US and took a quick swing through Amsterdam that I realized Portland's rank and significance in terms of urban transportation. I went to college to study urban planning because I want to help people in other cities enjoy the same freedom of bicycling and walking that I once took for granted.

Elliot Scott joined Alta in 2009 after serving a 15-month internship while attending the Community Development program at Portland State University. He brings strong skills in facilitation, data collection and analysis, and technical research and writing. He also brings skills in GIS, including data maintenance and satellite image analysis. As a Community Service Aide with the Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability, he assisted on the Portland 3D Land Use Inventory, which will be presented at the 2009 American Planning Association national conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
