Downtown Plan for Imbler, Oregon
The quaint town of Imbler has grown around Highway 82 in Eastern Oregon. In 2007, with the assistance of ODOT, the town began to seek economic expansion through an aesthetically enhanced downtown and pedestrian friendly design. Alta collaborated with CH2M Hill and Angelo Planning to develop a vision and alternative options for Imbler’s future. Recommendations included: the completion of the town’s sidewalk system, the addition of bike lanes though the downtown and the addition of street furnishings and plantings that reflect the town’s agricultural identity.
Bicycle and Downtown Plan for Burns, OregonUnder ODOT, Alta collaborated with CH2M Hill and Angelo Planning, to develop bicycle and downtown plans for the town of Burns in Eastern Oregon. Burns is largely defined by Highway 395 and improvements were sought that would balance the needs of through traffic with bicycle and pedestrian considerations. Downtown recommendations included: curb extensions, visible crosswalks and accessible ramps. Working in tandem with the downtown improvements, the bicycle plan seeks to safely connect major destinations through a system of bicycle boulevards and street crossing improvements.
