Dana Dickman, Senior Planner/Programs Manager

Dana DickmanWhen I walk or bicycle in a place, I know it in a more profound way than I ever could driving in a car.
As I kid I often opted to skip the bus and walk the three miles home – I knew each tree and secret place along that route.

Walking and bicycling today in my neighborhood and city - I know the gardens, the shrines, the food carts, and I am connected to my place by moving through it intentionally. I am passionate about making bicycling and walking safe for everyone in every neighborhood.

Ms. Dickman worked as part of an advisory team to develop a needs assessment methodology and conduct an analysis of opportunities for improving alternative transportation options for transportation-disadvantaged populations in rural regions. She led the countywide assessment of access to transit, walking and bicycling infrastructure for vulnerable populations. This research included identification of alternative outreach strategies to reach underserved populations.
  • Humboldt County Regional Bicycle Plan (CA)
Humboldt County, located in far northern California, is geographically large with widely dispersed populations in both urbanized and rural areas. Ms. Dickman led a team in conducting and coordinating public participation and field research to develop prioritized route and policy recommendations.
