Coastal Rail Trail Design Project, San Diego County (CA)

Alta was part of a design team led by Dokken Engineers on the 40-mile Coastal Rail Trail between San Diego and Oceanside in northern San Diego County. Alta provided design review, safety, liability, easement, California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) permitting, intersection design, trailhead design, and other services on this pathway project located next to the high-speed Coaster Rail Line. With more than 50 trains per day traveling over 80 mph, the design team was confronted with numerous challenges and constraints. Alta provided expertise with similar projects and national research on the subject.
