Creating communities and great places is what attracted me to planning field. Shortly after graduating from college I worked as a land surveyor and began wondering who decided that it was a good idea to build a subdivision in the middle of nowhere. I went back to school and got a degree in planning, but it wasn’t until I became involved in trails and bicycling that I saw how planning could help to make better places, and create real communities where people enjoy walking and cycling in their neighborhoods, and actually get to know their neighbors. And, there aren’t many other jobs where riding a bike is part of your job description. When I am not working I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, and we are always looking for opportunities to walk and bike places instead of driving.
