I remember the day I got my drivers license. My older brother insisted on how much I would love driving. I disagreed and said that I was going to try my best not to rely on an automobile. And despite living in auto-oriented cities, I cycled on. Even the three feet of snow in Kalamazoo, Michigan (where I earned my undergrad) did not stop me from biking. After moving to Oakland, California, I got a taste of urban cycling. And though I enjoyed the challenge of ‘competing’ with automobiles for roadway space, now I just want to get to my destinations alive and unscathed. Enter - Alta Planning and Design - where I can work to make cities more bicycle and pedestrian friendly.
Bruce provides Alta with strong public outreach skills and experience developing master plans. Bruce’s work on bicycle, pedestrian and trail planning documents have addressed a range of land uses, from urban San José to semi-rural Lake County to remote Alpine County. In addition, Bruce has extensive experience with Safe Routes to School programs, policy analysis and grant writing.
